Pledge FY24/25

Dear BRMC family,

Recently, I have started praying the following prayer regularly. Not by choice, but because it is part of a daily liturgy that I observe:

“Take Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding, and my entire will; all that I have and call my own. You have given all to me. To you, O Lord, I return it. All is yours, dispose of it wholly according to your will. Give me your love and your grace, for this is sufficient for me.”

It is a radical prayer of self-giving and openness to God’s love that the Jesuits call the Suscipe.

Right up to today, I hesitate before voicing the first line. What would it mean for me to give all my ‘liberty… memory… understanding… entire will’ to our Lord Jesus? I find it a frighteningly difficult promise to make, but realise that surrendering to the Lord would mean entrusting everything that I have to glorify His name.

Matthew 6:19-21 resonates. Jesus Himself reminds us to store up treasure for ourselves in heaven and not on earth because treasure on earth will one day fade away into oblivion while that in heaven will last into eternity.

May I encourage us to bear this in mind as we prepare to make our pledge to God. Let us keep our sights on serving Him with all that we have, and I pray that He gives us a joyful conviction of heart as we return but a small portion of what He has abundantly blessed us with. As we commit our finances to Him, let us take the step of offering the entirety of our lives for His use and continue to praise Him whatever the circumstances of our lives.

To present a clearer picture on how the funds brought into the Lord’s storehouse at BRMC is used, the Finance Committee has aligned the allocation of funds with key ministry pillars identified by the pastoral team. This approach enhances transparency regarding the allocation of resources to the various ministries.

Please reach out to our Finance Team if you would like to look at more detailed financial statements.
